Where we should live?

1. As I know, most of students live on campus in the first year, which was limited by school. But according to the students mind, just a little student wants to live on campus. So some students not only rent apartment, but also pay for live in school. That is a unadvisable choice.

2. Now, we will finish the first year in MSU, which means we can move out to school or we can live off campus with our friends, that make us exciting and happy. However, there is a problem, what we should choice? Still live on campus or move out.

3. In my opinion, whatever aspects move out is better than live on campus, such as the price, the dinner, the convenience, to name but a few.

4. First of all, live off campus is convenient, we know that some dorms in school should share bathroom with roommates, especially some dorms have four people that is difficult to use it. We can image that if they have class at the same time in the morning, they both want to use bath room, they should wait and one by one, that will lead they don not wash, going to class, avoiding late to class. But live off campus we can use our own bath room, we do not need to worry that situation happen again.

5. On the other hand, I asked some students about the school food, most of answers were not satisfied. They feel that the school food can not eat every day, they want to do some food by themselves or eat some native food. But the fact is we can not cook in dorm, even if we can cook in dorm, we also should think our roommates feeling. Because some roommates from different countries they are not used to the smell which cooked by us. On the contrast, we can cook whatever we want in our rent apartment without thinking our roommates feeling.

6. Moreover, sometimes we want to study in the dorm, but the roomates talking with their friends or watch TV, play games. That make us can not focus on study. Maybe some students think we can go to library, but they neglect that we will waste too much time to wait the bus or walking on the road .
Obviously, study in our own study room is better than study in dorm.

7. Also, we can not ignore the advantage of live on campus, because some students think live in school can help them improve language, they can always talk with local students in dorm or join the activities. I recognize that is a good way to enhance our English.

8. But live off campus we can find other ways help us boost our language skill too. The first way, we know that there are many activities every week in school, we can active to join, making new friends who are local students. Then, we can usually play together, in the long run, we will find that our English skill has improved.

9. The second way is we should study hard in class, more practice with teachers or classmates. After class we can listeng to English mews, watch English movies, and reading the newspaper. These also good ways to enhance our English.

10. Finally, all of information above can illuminate that live off campus is a good choice for international students living and study. By the way, if you want to move out, you should find a quiet and safe apartment.

  1. I agree with your opinion, each point has their benefits. As a freshman, i know if we live on campus, is more convience to meet new friends and easy into America culture. But live on campus is a little bit expensive if we move out, we can save more money and we can cook by ourself, that is more convience and fit our taste. Also on campus, we can improve our English very quicly, and we can inhance our community on campus. If we move out campus, we will have more private space to let us do many things we want. That is goof for live. You know, in school, there are always 2 or more people in a room, is a little bit crowded and not that convience. That is all my opinion about live on campus or move out.

  2. I agree, living on campus is more expensive than living off campus. Also, having a sharing bathroom is problem. Exactly when you and other people who are sharing the bathroom with them have a class in the same time. The room on campus it is not big enough to put all u stuff in it. But as u said we cannot go to live off campus until we finish one year on campus.

  3. I agree with your opinion. Although live in and live out off campus both have their advantage and disadvantage. But I still think that live out off campus have more benifit to us. Just like you said, it's more convenient. We can cooking ourself, have our private speace, more cheaper.

  4. I agree .
For students, living out of campus is not a convenient way to live but cheap.
We save MONEY for the meal plan ,that is really expensive for us. If someone is considering to live out of campus,so you have to learn to cook ,if you can not that will be a problem, because eating in a restaurant is much expensive than the meal plan. And having a car is also necessary, that will be easy to go to school.

  5. i agree.Living on campus is not cheap, also we need to share the bathroom, restroom, laundry. And the dorm is very small for me.Most of us want to have our own private places. So move out of the campus is the best choose.I almost can't wait to move out, we can cook by ourself,we have our private thing.

  6. I agree with you in what you said. actually I live off campus and I really enjoyed that. But I think if you live off campus you will need car. That means you will pay a lot of money for the oil that what I did. This is the only problem I faced. In general living off campus give you the freedom. You can do anything you want.you have to chose a good apartment to have fun and study hard.

  7. i totally agree with you.i prefer moving out of our campus because i can't bear that disadvantages too. i don't want to share a bathroom with any others because i can't control or change both my neighbors' and my schedules.it seems we always have the same schedule in the morning,it therefore very common to fight for right of who should use it firstly in hurry.what's more, the food provided by school makes me sick. However, the best important reason is that i can choose my roommate by my own standard, which makes me avoid to live with an annoying guy whom i have to stand during a whole semester.

  8. I agree with opinion. I also confused to choose about the problem. As for me, this is the first time to stay at dorm and I have never been to live on campus before. So I was having trouble adjusting to dormitory life. I wanted to live out of campus, but there were so many things to abandon. But now, I like to live at dorm with friends. Although I gave up to live off campus, I get lots of precious experiences. I think that It all depends on how I accept it.

  9. I disagree with you. I believe living on campus has a lot and a lot of advantages not one or two. For example, make a new friend, join each activities if you want (That what you mention), a gym is so close, the food has a lot and a lot of choices. You can choices whatever you want. I believe you can't make all that when you have your own apartment. Even if you made it will be jest for few days at begin because you are excited then you will become tired. Focusing in food, a cafeteria offers for you from the little things in breakfast until dessert. It provides different types of cereals, coffee, pizzas, burgers, some different dishes every day, salad, fruit, juices, soft drink etc. In addition, some of the cafeterias work until midnight. I believe a lot students said they want live off campus because they are forbidden. But when they leave, they will feel living on campus have a lot of advantages they were not felt it.

  10. I disagree with your opinion somewhat. It is true that living off the campus has a lot of advantages, such as, saving our money and free-time to do our own things. However, it is hard to say it suits for every international student. As some international students, it is the first time to come America. They might not know how to cook and don’t have any relative or friend in here. In this case, living off the campus can give them more trouble. For example, they have to get campus by bus. It is more easily to lost way than living on campus. If you live on campus for a period before you live off campus, it may change a lot.

  11. I totally agree with your opinion. I think live off campus is better than live in dorm. Live off campus can get more own space. We can cook food by ourself. We also can get more convenient than live in dorm. So I really don't know why the school require where will we live about our first year. I think live place is our own right and school cannot require.

  12. 1. As YOU know, most * students live on campus in the first year, which IS DETERMINED by school. But according to the students' THOUGHTS, ONLY a FEW studentS WANT to live on campus. So some students not only rent AN apartment, but also pay for A DORM *. That is a unadvisable choice.

    2. Now, we will finish the first year in MSU, which means we can move out OF THE DORM or we can live off campus with our friends, that makeS us EXCITED and happy. However, there is a problem: WHICH SHOULD we CHOOSE? SHOULD WE Still live on campus or move out?

    3. In my opinion, whatever aspects YOU CONSIDER, movING out is better than livING on campus, such as the price, the dinner, the convenience, to name but a few.

    4. First of all, livING off campus is convenient. We know that WE NEED TO SHARE OUR BATHROOM WITH OTHER CLASSMATES IN some dorms *, especially IN some dorms, PEOPLE NEED TO SHARE IT WITH four people, WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO USE IT *. We can image that if they have A class at the same time in the morning, they both want to use THE BATHROOM. THEN they NEED wait and USE IT one by one, WHICH will PREVENT THEM FROM WASHING THEIR HANDS, going to class, AND THEY MAY BE late to class. But livING off campus, we can use our own BATHROOM, AND we do not need to worry ABOUT SUCH A situation * again.

    5. On the other hand, I asked some students about the school food, AND most OF THEM ANSWERED TAHT THEY were not satisfied. They feel that the school food can not BE eatEN every day, AND they want to MAKE some food by themselves or eat some native food. But the fact is we can not cook in THE dorm, AND even if we can cook in THE dorm, we * should ALSO think OF our roommates' feeling. THAT IS Because some roommates from different countries * are not used to the smell which WE MAKE FROM COOKING. IN contrast, we can cook whatever we want in our rentED apartment without thinking OF our roommates' feeling.

    6. Moreover, sometimes we want to study in the dorm, but the ROOMMATES ARE talking with their friends, watchING TV, OR playING games. That makeS us * not BE ABLE TO focus on study. Maybe some students think we can go to THE library, but they neglect that we will waste too much time ON waitING FOR the bus or walking on the road. Obviously, studyING in our own study room is better than studyING in THE dorm.

    9. The second way is we should study hard in class, AND * practice MORE with teachers or classmates. After class, we can LISTEN to English NEWS, watch English movies, and RED * newspaperS. These ARE also good ways to enhance our English.

    10. Finally, all of THE information above can illuminate that livING off campus is a good choice for international students FOR living and studyING. BUT PLEASE REMEMBER THAT if you want to move out, you should find a quiet and safe apartment.

  13. I lived in the Spartan Village first for about 1 year, but now we live off campus. Living in the Spartan Village is different from living in a dorm as we do not need to buy a meal plan; besides, we do not need to share the room with others.
Comparing on and off campus, for me, living off campus is better at least than living in the Spartan Village. Usually, university housing is cheaper than apartments; but somehow, in MSU, living on campus seems more expensive than living off campus. So in this sense, I don't know why MSU raises the rent so high that lots of people in the Spartan Village and the Cherry Lane move out. It sounds like MSU is taking the most important advantage away from these university housing.
I don't know how much it costs to live in a dorm or have a meal plan. But I heard a lot of complaints from my students; so it should be fairly expensive. Then I would say living off campus would be better although, admittedly, there are some troubles and problems in living off campus, too. And yes, living in a dorm also has some advantages, too. So consider which best fits you before you make up your mind.

  14. I agree with you. Living off campus is better than living on campus. For me , the smoking is the biggest problem. If I live off campus, I can smoke anywhere. And the expensive living expense is also a big problem. Living off campus is more cheaper than living dorms. It's can save more money to do anything else. There have many reasons, if you are interested, you can read my eassy.
