1. Hello, everyone! This is the first time I write a composition on internite. And this time I want to write about my studied place, I am going to write my personal opinion about it.
2. I studied in a foreign country, and I studied in an English Language Center. Many foreigners study in this program. However most of them do not like it, and they want to get out of this program as soon as they can, and there are many reason for it.
3. First of all, the tuition is bery high. This program chages in accordance with 12bcredits, without accommodation and meals' fee. So the total fee is at least 1.5000 d0llars for one semester.
4. After paying the tuiton we can not get what we really want. For instance, the food is not good enough for the most Chinese students. They do not adapt the food that in the canteen. Some students from other countries can get food which they like, but we can not.
5. For the education system, all this program's student must past the placement test and get enough GPA so that they can skip other level to next level. However the student whose GPA is 3.5 even though higher than it, and they did not do well in the placement test they only can go to nest leverl. Some of students asbsent some classes and they do not work really hard in the program , however they get a good mark in the placement test and they can skip some levels. So the placement tests only effect fot the people whose English level is better.
6. So I hope this system can be changed, there are many students who studied very hard, and their GPA is 3.5 or more than 3.5, and they really should be rewarded. Whereas the reward shou not be just a diploma.
7. On the other hand, this program has its advantage. For example, the teachers are really helpful. We have classes every morning at 8 o'clock, and the teachers get up at 6 o'clock to organize the class for us. I recived a mail that was sent at 6 o'clock on that morning. We really appericiate to that.
8. Moreover, this program helped us a lot, it really can help us to improve our English level. In this program, all the students who reaalu studied hard can be at a good English level they except.
9. Last but not the least, in this program there are many foreigers, we came from different countries, it help us to get together and we can talk each other to understand other countries' culture clearly.
10. Admittedly, the English Language Center is a good place to study. However I do not think this program is good enough. I really hope this program to improve itself, and make it better and better.
of course i will agree of Ang's view.ElC is really a good place to improve our English, they have many good teacher, and also similar to the college study.However, the fee is too expensive, and for some students are taking too much time on this course. Also one more point, Ang's essay really figure out most students' mind. I hope ELC can realize this program and think about it.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! I really think that you discribe the problem about this problem is true. I think we have no way to change the situtation. We can change this problem. The only things we can do that is we can study very hard about English. We need get good mark at placement test ,and jump to this problem. The lucky things that I can met you at this program. ReplyDeleteI agree with your points, in my opinion, the first thing is that we can make many friends who are foreign students in there. But the important thing is we want to study technology in here. we can improve language skill in here but we can not got credits, this is bad thing for us. also The teachers is very good. At last we use huge money and lots of time, the result can not let us or my family satisfy. I think we should study hard by ourselves .
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion. The English Language Center is one of the best place for us to improve English. We have to admit the school have already offered us a lot. However, there is nothing perfect in the world. There is still some strong suggestion that might have been mentioned few times. The tuition fee is extremely high enough that might be even higher than some international academic students but we didn't get any credit. This means we spend a lot of menoy and time just for English that might give us more stress to make us feel worried.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ang. The tuition is expansive, and the ELC is a very good center. I heard from my friend that there are some English language Center in other states are not good as MSU's ELC. I realy like the ELC ,because I think my English is improving. Also, it depend on the teacher if he is good enuogh to improve youe English. Finally, it is a good opportunity to meet people from different countries.
ReplyDeleteSome problems are still there and situation cant be changed easily，so working hard is the best way to get a better GPA，isn't it? we have good teachers，good conditions and we also have a lot of good friends here，so cooperation should be built between us...then i think we will make a difference together!

I agree with you, I think the ELC is a good place to study English on it, like what Alex said "nothing is perfect in the world". you have to pick up the good things in this place and keep the bad things. you have to focus in what you are coming for it.everyone can make the things better than before.For the tuition I don't feel like you because my government pay for me so I don't know if it is expensive or not.

ReplyDeleteI also agree with your opinion. Tuition is too expensive. But I think, It is reasonable price for us. We can learn and practice with good teathers. If we used well ELC program, we would obtain good result as well as the price. Also experience of MSU is good opportunity for us. We can make international friends, and contact with other culture. We should experience not only learning English, but also lots of activities.

I agree with you. Although the course is very important to the international student, it's too expensive. I think we should get a part of credits for this course. If we get that way, I think the students who are in the ELC will study more and more hard to get more credits.

SOME STUDENTS MAY BE ABSENT FROM some classes and they do not work really hard in the program. However IF they get a good mark in the placement test,* they can skip TO HIGHER levels. So the placement tests only WORK FOR the people whose English level is better.

Great start. You set the bar high. Be careful of run-on sentences.
Unfortunately, I disagree with you. If you take academic class while your English is not good enough, that is going to be a disaster. If you fail in ELC, it won't be shown in your transcript; therefore, it does not affect you when you are trying to get a job. However, if you fail in an academic class, it stays in your record. So people in human resources will not like that. You should be good at English enough to be able to pass the class when you leave the ELC. Remember that you will need to read and write a lot in those classes, and teachers will not give you feedback on your writing, but they just lower your grade instead.
Regarding the tuition and fees, I think they are decided by college, not ELC. Sorry that it's expensive...
I some kind I agree with you Ang, the first point, I'm not real suffering from American food because I use to eat it in Saudi Arabia. Anyways, if you do not like the food you can tall him about your opinion.
ReplyDeletethe second point, I am the new student in this school, and I am glad to hear this from you as you old student at this school. I wish we all improve our English, but we have to be aware that learn a language takes time.
